Lyn's Journey to 8

A Weight Loss Adventure

“One good thing about music…”

“… When it hits you feel no pain.” Bob was so right.

This is my first “30 minute walk” week and I’m considering staying at 30 minutes for a little while and perhaps doing four sessions per week instead of three. Before I started my first walk, I found out that my mp3 player was not working, even with new batteries. I toyed with the idea of getting an iTouch (I’m salivating as I type) but alas, it’s not the time for such expensive goodies. Perhaps that will be a reward when I have reached my goal. Instead, I ventured out yesterday and got myself an affordable little mp3 player to save me from my silent walks. I am certain that this will take away from the aches and pains of a body in transition.

This would be absolute perfection:

I’ve always had a passion for music, a trait I no doubt inherited from my father. I’m hoping to create a few playlists that will each last about the duration of my walk. I realize that my song selection will influence my mood as well as my pace. I must maintain that pep in my step as I stomp towards a size 8!

If anyone has suggestions for feel-good-go-get-it music, please feel free to share.

Ciao

  1. Um…lemme see…

I may be taking a little from different genres here:

Let’s Get It Started – BEP

Get the Party Started – P!NK

    Fighter – Christina Aguilera

Eye of the Tiger – Survivor (yes, a bit cheesy and clichéd, I know; but it works)

The Heat is On – Glen Fray (another 80’s classic)

Don’t Stop Believing – Journey (I LOOOOOVE THIS SONG)

Survivor – Destiny’s Child (not a HUGE fan of this song, but it’s still cool)

    Bootyliscious – Destiny’s Child

    Try Again – Aaliyah

Suavamente – Elvis Crespo (I don’t know why, but I gotta move when I hear this song!)

Ching a ling – Missy Elliot (scratch dat, annnnnyting by Missy. LOL!)

Feedback – Janet & Ciara (Timberland remix)

    Alive – P.O.D.

    Wake Me Up – Evanescence

Uprising – Muse (Great song! The group that inspired Stephenie Meyer to write the Twilight saga)

Rise Up – Bless The Fall (This is a Christian Heavy metal band. The words are pretty good. Some of the strong, heavy guttural sounds take a bit getting use to)

It’s My Life – Jon Bon Jovi

    Lose Yourself – Eminem

    —-

And, when you are winding down or stretching afterwards:

We made it – Busta Rhymes and Linkin Park

Closer to my dreams – Goappelle

Put Your Records On – Corrine Bailey Rae

    Get Up – Amel Larrieux

    Don’t forget – Etana

    The Climb – Miley Cyrus

    —-

Girrrrrl, I could go on and on. There are so many great songs out there! I haven’t even made a dent!

I love classical music, too, (yes, for working out). Like, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee or Handel or Tchaikovsky. They tend to open up and rejuvenate the mind. And, while working out; dopamine overhaul! But, that’s another ball game! :^D

That said, LET’S GET IT STARTED!!!

Keep on Moving, Lyn! (Heyyyy that’s another one by Soul II Soul)

    • Woa! Thanks Shel! Thats a playlist in itself! I like BEP too AND Journey! (I found out about them just recently). Some of the others, I’m going to have to find them since they are new to me – like that Elvis Crespo dude. You’re right, there are so many great tunes to choose from. Thats why I asked for input! When I’m finished the first playlist, I’ll mention it in an entry.

      Muchisimas gracias Bonita!
